Fall Family Session Outfit Ideas
I’m sure you guys have already started booking your fall family sessions since we’re only a couple of weeks away from the first official day of Autumn. Which means, time to figure out what to wear. I always suggest starting in your own closets before running out to buy all new outfits, but in case your closet is as outdated as mine, here are a few versatile and cute looks that will look great in studio, in a pumpkin patch, or under the changing leaves.
Ladies, you’re first. Do you prefer patterns or solids? Jeans or Dresses? The goal is to pick your style and find ways for your family to compliment your look without directly matching. Deep colors and layers are going to be your friend here. Fall colors that look great are burgundy, brown, beige, copper, black, and deep greens. Trust me, hot pink does not look cute in a pumpkin patch. Start thinking in warm, rich hues.
Next up, men. You and your partner should have different, but complimentary colors on. If she’s in a pattern, I recommend you stay in a solid color. But if she’s in all solids, go for prints! Plaids and knit textures always play into the fall theme well.
Teens, it’s your turn and I know ya’ll are going to bring the style all on your own, but I’ll throw a few recommendations your way anyway.
And for the younger kids… If you and your partner stayed neutral, let the kids be the ones to pop with a bit of fun patterns. If possible, pull a color or pattern from one of you or your partner’s outfit into theirs, but be careful here. If dad is wearing plaid, your three kids probably shouldn’t be in all plaid too.
And here’s an example of how I’d pick one outfit from each person’s category and put them together on one chic and adorable family.
